Clearwater Business Services
Clearwater Business Services is a supported employment program auspiced by Pathways Rehabilitation and Support Services Ltd. Operating throughout the Barwon region (Victoria), it began in 1993 as a psychosocial rehabilitation program, running for seven hours per week, doing window cleaning. In 1994 a full time Manager was appointed, and Clearwater Business Services has grown to become a competitor in the cleaning industry, offering window cleaning, carpet cleaning, gutter cleaning, office and domestic cleaning, house washing, rubbish removal, gardening, and landscaping services.
Clearwater is one of only a few employment programs in Australia specifically supporting people affected by mental illness. By drawing on a range of support systems and technologies from around the World, based on the Boston University School of Rehabilitation Studies Model of employment and support, this model looks at people gaining work experience at all levels and also helps to remove some of the barriers to employment.
Clearwater has been able to develop a comprehensive program of employment support. Our rehabilitation pre-employment program is giving our consumers who are not sure of their ability to work, a chance to decide if work is a viable option for them, and a chance to work in a non-threatening environment. Our supported business is designed to mirror a real work setting with commercial clients in the community, work teams and award related, productivity based wage setting.
